Melk

As we waited (and waited and waited) for our car to arrive, Dave's golf passion paid off as he met and incredibly generous American ex-pat who has been living here for a decade.  She lent us a car for a weekend and we quickly planned a day trip to Melk, a 45 min drive outside of Vienna

Melk is an Austrian town on the Danube River, known for the 11th-century Melk Abbey, a vast monastery built high above the town. Gold statuary adorns its domed Abbey Church, and the huge library houses medieval manuscripts.

The views were incredible.

We ended the trip sitting at a small cafe enjoying wine and dinner.
