A Day Trip to Limburg

Last Sunday, we sought a short day trip to enjoy the beautiful, if rare, spring weather.  I read in our "Germany's Day Trips" book Limburg is best seen in the sun and sits only 45 km from Frankfurt.  Founded in 800 AD and spared from WW II bombings, Limburg still includes original half-timbered houses and medieval buildings.  The perfect destination for an afternoon outing.

We startred our tour at St. Anna-Kirche, famous for its three story stained glass windows.  It is always a joy to visit a quiet Church with Emily and Owen, especially as they fight, I mean pray at the front of the Church.

"Do we have to go in that one too??"

The graveyard did capture their attention.

We brought a picnic lunch and walked down the river to see the water wheel.

A stop at the playground

a quick look at the oldest bridge in Germany - dating from 1315 and still used for traffic,

and an ice cream completed our visit.  Of course,  Emily ordered mocha and Owen mint, but both decided after two licks they would prefer Dave's vanilla cone.  For a euro, their kind father bought them new cones.
